Last-Minute Training

As part of my training, I had scheduled a 12-mile run for the weekend of April 2/3. What the heck was I thinking?! That was the same weekend we were going to the Dominican Republic for a destination wedding. So, let's be honest...who in their right mind is going to run 12 miles indoors on a treadmill while vacationing in paradise, seriously?!

So, I decided to get creative with my training schedule. Instead of the full 12 miles in paradise, I compromised with a 7-miler on the resort's mill last Friday, followed by a 10-mile run on Wednesday. The weather was quite pleasant on Wednesday, so I ran outdoors from Clarity to campus. And of course, I made the usual mid-way pit stop at the UW Hospital - which appears to be the newfound ritual of my longer runs. WTF?  I ended the route at Marty's house where I was greeted with Pizza Brutta's pizza.  Yum!
Now, as the marathon gets closer, it's time to taper the mileage, get plenty of sleep, and carbo-load. Easier said than done, actually!
